July 1969: “The Eagle has landed”

On July 20, 1969, "Houston" was the first word spoken from the moon. As the Apollo 11 lunar module, named "Eagle," settled onto the surface of the moon, mission commander Neil Armstrong reported: "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed."
